Brian McCarthy is Chief Operating Officer for PCMA. He is responsible for both the day-to-day and long term operations of the association, which includes oversite of the Association’s strategy and priorities, member engagement, finances, operations, and administration. Additionally, Mr. McCarthy leads the association’s industry relations activities with Member PBMs and Affiliate pharmaceutical manufacturers, and directs all conference and fundraising operations.

Prior to joining PCMA in 2003, Mr. McCarthy spent ten years in public and government affairs, marketing, business development, and corporate relations. Mr. McCarthy came to PCMA from the American Council of Life Insurers where he spearheaded the trade group’s for-profit business development and corporate relations. In addition, Mr. McCarthy has served in senior positions at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the Health Insurance Association of America – now America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP). Mr. McCarthy is a graduate of the University of Delaware. He and his wife Katie have two children.
