Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga., is angling for a seat on the House Energy and Commerce Committee next year, but he is coming under fire for bills he sponsored that would financially benefit pharmacists. Carter is a licensed pharmacist who owned three pharmacies before being elected to the House, and his wife still owns one of those pharmacies. “I think that if he’s going to continue to have immediate family members owning his businesses who would financially benefit from some of these measures, then no, he shouldn’t be doing it,” said Brinkley Serkedakis, director of Common Cause’s Georgia branch.
