Telepharmacy
The term “telepharmacy is the provision of pharmacist care by a pharmacist through the use of telecommunications and other technologies. Such care may include dispensing and distribution of prescription drugs, drug utilization review, patient counseling services, specific drug therapy and comprehensive medication monitoring, and any other pharmacy service function that can be executed with the assistance of technology.

Terminal Disclaimer
A limit on a term of a patent that is substantially similar to another co-owned patent. It is intended to support a patent continuation, but it can also be used to allow a manufacturer to make slight changes to its drug and file a patent for the same invention.

Therapeutic Interchange
Dispensing a chemically different drug, considered therapeutically equivalent (i.e., will achieve the same outcome, clinical efficacy, and safety profile), in place of a drug originally prescribed. When therapeutic interchange occurs in accordance with procedures and protocols set up and approved by prescribers in advance;, the pharmacist does not have to seek the prescriber’s approval for each interchange. The drugs involved are not FDA-rated generic equivalents.
