The Pharmaceutical Care Management Association, the leading PBM trade group, said in a statement that it’s “confident the FTC will ultimately conclude that drug manufacturer price setting is the root cause of high drug costs, putting a strain on patients and forcing them to make difficult decisions about their drugs.”
“We are currently reviewing the proposed rule. However, previous point-of-sale proposals in Medicare have not advanced because they would significantly increase Medicare spending,” said JC Scott, president and CEO of the PBM advocacy group Pharmacy Care Management Association in a statement.

The Pharmaceutical Care Management Association, which represents the Pharmacy Benefit Managers, turned the blame back to manufacturers, noting that the high prices start there. “Ironically, the industry that controls the list price of prescription drugs has attempted to point the finger at those focused on reducing the cost of prescription drugs for patients and payers,” the group said in a statement.

the drug company Bayer hiked the list prices of two cancer drugs by more than $1,000 per month.
“I think what happened is they looked at this policy very, very closely and found out it was a loser,” PCMA President Mark Merritt said.
