(Washington, D.C.) — The Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) released the following statement on the President’s Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis report:

“While we are still reviewing the report, we are encouraged the Commission recommends increasing the use of electronic prescribing (e-prescribing) for controlled substances to prevent diversion and forgery.

In addition, we support H.R. 3528, the ‘Every Prescription Conveyed Securely Act,’ which requires e-prescribing for controlled substances in Medicare Part D.”
