PCMA Launches New Video Ad Explaining How PBMs Help Keep Medicines Affordable

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — The Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) recently released a new video ad as part of its ongoing campaign, “PBMs. Lowering Drug Costs. Protecting Patients.” The seven-figure, always-on campaign is designed to highlight the enormous and wide-ranging value pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) provide to patients and the entire health care system.

The new ad, “Every Month,” builds on the campaign’s first set of ads communicating the impact that lowering drug costs and protecting patients has on families. In “Every Month,” a mother picks up a prescription with a copay of just $5, on a drug with a $500 price tag, showing the work PBMs do behind the scenes to consistently deliver affordability to patients.

David Marin, PCMA President and CEO, made the following statement on the release of the new video ad:

“For millions of patients, affordability at the pharmacy counter isn’t just about saving money. It’s also about trust and reliability. Our newest ad shines a spotlight on the critical role PBMs play to deliver predictable access to affordable prescription drugs. That peace of mind comes from a PBM.

“PBMs are the only entity in the health care system focused on driving down expensive prescription drug costs. They use competition and negotiation to secure savings to help make medication accessible and affordable for the nearly 290 million patients they serve. That work matters for patients every month of the year.”
