PCMA Releases New Video Ad to Highlight PBMs’ Role Helping Keep Patients Safe

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — Today, the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA), released the next in its series of video ads for PCMA’s ongoing campaign, “PBMs. Lowering Drug Costs. Protecting Patients.” The seven-figure, always-on campaign is designed to highlight the significant value pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) provide to patients and the entire health care system. The new ad, “Safe,” is intended to educate policymakers on a critical, but underappreciated role PBMs play to keep patients safe from dangerous drug interactions.

You can watch the new ad HERE or below. The clinical work PBMs do promotes safer, more effective prescription drug use and helps patients achieve better health outcomes.

David Marin, PCMA President and CEO, made the following statement on the release of the new video ad:

“The value PBMs provide can certainly be measured in dollars saved, but there’s much more to the PBM story. PBMs improve peoples’ lives by making them healthier. Specifically, our new video ad shows how, every day, PBMs prevent harmful drug interactions that could lead to serious health problems. It’s a part of the PBM story that needs to be better understood, and we’re going to continue to show that PBMs do more than negotiate against Big Pharma to reduce drug costs.

“Through lower prescription drug costs and programs that promote safe, effective medication use, PBMs are helping patients every day. These ads continue our effort to tell that story in a way that is clear and grounded in the experiences of the people we serve.”
