(WASHINGTON, D.C.) — The Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) today is announcing Northwind as its newest affiliate member company.
“PCMA is proud to welcome Northwind to our growing membership,” said David Marin, PCMA President and CEO. “Its focus on transparency, clinical support, and serving the unique needs of self-funded employers and union health plans underscores the wide range of PBM services available in the market today. Northwind’s growth reflects the dynamic competition and continued innovation that define today’s PBM market. Its perspective will be a valuable addition to our association, and we look forward to working together to advance affordability and access to prescription drugs for patients.”
Founded in 2008, Northwind Health Company provides pharmacy benefit management, third-party administration, and chronic disease management services to self-funded payers nationwide. Northwind launched its pharmacy benefit management division in 2020 with a focus on transparent pricing, pass-through rebates, and clinical support services for employers and union health plans. The company serves members in all 50 states and its PBM services include benefit design, pharmacy contracting, utilization management, rebate administration, and clinical support.
“We’re proud to join PCMA and stand alongside companies committed to a more competitive, transparent PBM market,” said Phillip Berry, CEO and founder of Northwind Health. “Membership in PCMA gives us a stronger platform to advocate for the plan sponsors and patients we serve, and we look forward to contributing to that work.”
PCMA’s members reflect the diversity and competition that exist across today’s PBM market. PBMs are the only segment of the drug supply chain that works to bring down drug prices, while everyone else is incentivized to make prescriptions more expensive. PCMA member companies are pursuing a range of strategies to help employers, unions, and government programs improve affordability, expand access, and support better health outcomes for patients.
