In Review: Last week, the Senate re-introduced the PBM Kitchen-Sink bill, SB 252, on Wednesday, March 19. That afternoon, it was heard in Senate Banking and Insurance and passed out of the Senate on Thursday, March 20. While the new bill was a “compromise,” none of the new language included recommendations made by PCMA, the Business Council of Alabama, and Manufacture Alabama.
Up Next: With the bill now pending in the House, PCMA and our members will focus our efforts on the House side. PCMA is launching a campaign against the bill, has put together a new cost estimate, and provided members with comments on the bill. Additionally, while the legislature is on Spring Break, PCMA will meet with local stakeholders to walk them through how the current bill impacts their plan design, resulting in added costs.
