Alaska Weekly Update 5.13.24

In Review: SCS CSHB 226 (omnibus -mitigated) passed the Senate with a vote of 19-0 on Saturday, May 11, after receiving approval from the Senate Labor & Commerce Committee the day prior on May 10; and the House concurred on Sunday, May 13. The bill, which attracted considerable attention from various interest groups, both supporting and opposing, prompted the sponsor to remark on the general fatigue surrounding it. The legislation was reduced to focusing on PBM registration, prohibiting spread pricing for fully insured plans, enhancing transparency, and replacing unacceptable fiduciary language with a Duty of Care provision with an enact date of January 2025.
