In Review: Amidst a backdrop of legislative discord, HB 226 found itself back in the spotlight as legislators revisited the bill following a breakdown in amendment agreements. The proposed amendments, which had been central to discussions, were notably absent from floor action on Friday, May 3, which resulted in the bill’s passage with a 30-7 vote. HB 226 has been transitioned to the Senate and assigned to the Labor & Commerce Committee, where it is waiting for a hearing date. The committee is set to convene again on May 8 and 10, but no bill numbers have been assigned to date.
