Arkansas Weekly Update 8.19.24

In Review: Late last week, the Arkansas Insurance Department (AID) shared a draft of a proposed rule allowing the AID to make a determination of whether or not the pharmacy dispensing fees of a health plan or PBM are adequate.  The General Counsel for the AID estimates the new rule could result in at least an additional 3.5% added to insurance premiums for plans covering Arkansans.  The AID drafts fail to set an actual number for the dispensing fee but will instead subject plans to an arbitrary review by the AID.  This week, PCMA counsel and members of the business community are meeting to coordinate efforts to oppose this latest attack by the Governor and her AID.
