California Weekly Update 5.20.24

In Review: SB 966 (licensing, ban on spread pricing, ban on delinking, transparency) passed out of the Senate Appropriations Committee on Thursday and now heads to the Senate floor. While we expect the bill to pass, we are still issuing a floor alert opposing the bill and working closely with our coalition partners to do the same. PMCA and several member company representatives met with the Department of Insurance (DOI) staff along with representatives from the California Pharmacists Association (CPhA) on Friday to discuss issues and concerns with the reporting requirements while trying to learn of any issues the department may have with implementation. AB 2180 (copay accumulators and maximizers) failed to advance out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee, so it is done for the year.

Up Next: PCMA has a Zoom meeting this week with CPhA to discuss our remaining concerns with SB 966 which include the ban on spread pricing, the ban on delinking and several of the reporting requirements.
