California Weekly Update 8.19.24

In Review: The Assembly Appropriations Committee advanced SB 966 along party lines with no Republicans voting for the bill, although that’s more a procedural matter than policy concerns.  Chair Wicks referenced author amendments allowing for spread pricing and pay-for-performance with no further description or details provided. No language on the amendments has been provided.

Up Next: Any amendments must be printed 72 hour before the Assembly can vote on the bill.  Once, we see the amendments, we will finalize our floor alert accordingly.  We are working closely with our coalition partners on a CAPA floor alert as well.  We are continuing our grassroots, grasstops, and digital ad campaigns, focusing on the failure of the bill to reduce costs for patients while providing a boost for pharma profits.
