Colorado Weekly Update 4.15.24

In Review: Last week, PCMA’s counsel and the Colorado Association of Health Plans testified in opposition to SB 54, the obesity drug coverage mandate. Our comments focused on the cost implications of mandating coverage for GLP-1s, and others expressed concerns over the actuarial study Milliman conducted on the mandate. Milliman’s utilization and drug cost assumptions fail to reflect what many plans are seeing in the real world. Unfortunately, the bill passed out of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee by a vote of 5-3, but our work continues on it as it heads to Senate Appropriations.
