In Review: PCMA met with Senate Chair Matt Lesser (D) of the Human Services Committee to discuss the Rx Drug Task Force. The Senator had questions about how PBMs are compensated for their services, pharmacy reimbursements, and PBMs as fiduciaries. PCMA also met with House Chair Kerry Wood (D) of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee, where most of our PBM bills will be heard. The Chair outlined her priorities for this session and shared she is concerned about the amount of pressure the Senate puts on PBMs. The Chair expressed that PBM legislation is not a priority for her during this session. On Friday, Senate President Martin Looney (D) held a press conference on high prescription drug costs and focused most of his talking points on PBMs. He shared his frustration with the prior authorization process and wanting to make PBMs fiduciaries.
