Hawaii Weekly Update 4.28.25

In Review: The Hawaii State Legislature’s 2025 regular session will adjourn on May 2, marking the close of its 60-day session. SCR 69, the resolution intended initially to study PBMs, died as the final crossover deadline on Saturday, April 26, following an amendment being added in the Health Committee stripping the inflammatory language against PBMs from the bill. HB 250 SD2 (prior authorization) passed and was enacted as a study bill. It requires health plans to report prior authorization (PA) data and establishes a working group to recommend improvements to the PA process.
