Illinois Weekly Update 1.29.24

In Review: The past week in Illinois was marked by extensive discussions surrounding the intent of HB4548, the Department of Insurance’s PBM bill. This comprehensive piece of legislation encompasses steering prohibitions, affiliate language, spread pricing prohibitions and thorough audit and reporting provisions; it also addresses 340B. Following a meticulous internal review and seeking external legal counsel to clarify the entities targeted by the bill, we successfully confirmed through third-party verification that the scope of HB4548 will be limited to individual plans and small group plans, such as those found on the Health Exchange. This confirmation provides clarity on the entities covered by the bill and will guide our approach to communication and advocacy.

Up Next: Looking ahead, our focus in Illinois will be on refining our messaging strategies concerning HB4548 and other bills currently under consideration. As we continue to track developments in the legislative landscape, we aim to ensure that our communication aligns with the intent of the proposed legislation.
