Illinois Weekly Update 4.15.24

In Review: Last week, PCMA and its member companies met with the Illinois Department of Insurance (DOI) to review HB 4548, the department’s PBM bill containing steerage, anti-mail order, a spread ban, transparency, and NADAC plus $10.49 reimbursement language. Following the meeting, we redlined the bill and plan to submit the proposed amendments to the department by the end of today. The Department of Insurance has appointed former Senator Ann Gillespie (D) as its new director, with her official duties beginning on April 16. We continue to collaborate with the Illinois Life and Health Association regarding the Governor’s bill HB 5395, aimed at prohibiting step therapy, in addition to several other health plan provisions. Progress on the 340B bill, HB 3727, has decelerated since Sen. Gillespie is the sponsor, and she will be assuming her new duties. Nonetheless, with her transition to DOI Director, anticipations are high for renewed discussions on the issue.

Up Next: There will be a hearing on PBMs in Chicago on Monday, April 22 at 10:00 AM.
