In Review: Last week, the Illinois Department of Insurance (DOI) pushed for a hearing on HB 4548, a bill that contains a mandated dispensing fee, restrictions on pharmacy networks, a ban on spread pricing, and the requirement for disclosures of proprietary information. The bill was heard in the House Healthcare Availability Committee. David Root, representing Prime Therapeutics and the PBM industry, testified and fielded numerous questions from legislators. Despite some reservations, the bill successfully passed out of committee.
Up Next: PCMA and industry representatives are scheduled to have a meeting with the DOI on April 12. This meeting is anticipated to address the concerns and implications of the proposed bill. The bill is then scheduled for a subject matter hearing on April 16.
