Illinois Weekly Update 5.20.24

In Review: PCMA participated in a meeting last week with the governor’s office regarding HB5395. The Illinois Life and Health Association, along with PCMA and Director Gillespie, were present. The amended language was shared late Friday that still prohibits step therapy on formulary drugs but allows for a medical exceptions process for non-formulary drugs. We are still monitoring HB4548 closely but do not expect the bill to move before the end of the session this month. However, it is possible that similar language could be inserted into the budget implementation, HB5395, or another moving bill. We will continue to monitor this closely.

Up Next: Friday, May 24, should be the last day of the session, but it could extend to the end of May. The legislature will reconvene after the election. All bills will remain active until this session ends in January and the new session begins.
