In Review: Last Monday, PCMA met with Speaker Todd Huston (R) to discuss HB 1327 (Audits/Disclosures), which was scheduled for a vote in the House Health Committee the following morning; after walking through the industry’s concerns with the bill and discussing a more viable alternative that would achieve the goal of employer transparency. HB 1327 was ultimately pulled from the committee agenda, with the Chair noting that more work needed to be done. SB 3 (Prior Authorization) was also pulled from the Senate Appropriations agenda due to the significant cost of the state’s Medicaid program and state employee plan. Finally, SB 257 (Fiduciary Mandate) was scheduled for a hearing in the House Health Committee this week.
Up Next: PCMA will be in Indianapolis this week to testify in committee on SB 257 and has meetings scheduled with several legislators to discuss other legislation. Additionally, PCMA and other stakeholders will be hosting a dinner with the House Insurance Committee. An amendment to HB 1327 should also be filed at some point this week as conversations with the bill sponsor continue.
