In Review: Following the first Healthcare Cost Task Force Committee meeting, where members heard from the auditor connected with the Attorney General’s examination of PBMs operating in state-sponsored programs, PCMA was granted time to rebut and refute some of the claims made during that meeting. Joey Fox, speaking on behalf of PCMA, outlined for members the PBM value proposition and discussed some of the topics previously raised including PBM compensation and how PBM services are utilized by employers. Following Joey Fox were PhRma and representatives of the independent pharmacies. While PhRma’s presentation was mostly pro forma, the pharmacists honed in on audits from other states, namely Florida, Kentucky, and Mississippi. Finally, last week, Senator Tyler Johnson (R) held another stakeholder meeting to learn more about his prior authorization proposal for the 2025 session.
Up Next: PCMA will coordinate with member company representatives and local counsel to discuss any necessary follow-up with committee members, specifically on the audits conducted in other states.
