Iowa Weekly Update 1.16.24

In Review: The Iowa legislature started its 2024 legislative session last Monday. HSB 536 was introduced, which is the Iowa Division of Insurance’s “clarifying” PBM bill that PCMA and members discussed with the Division back in October. This bill includes adding a pharmacy to the good faith and fair dealing language, adding retaliation language, changing how pharmacy fees can be assessed, charged, or collected, and using “national average drug acquisition cost” rather than “pharmacy acquisition cost” in the MAC language.

Up Next: A Subcommittee Hearing in the House Commerce Committee is scheduled to be held on Monday afternoon. PCMA will be testifying relative to the pharmacy fees portion of the bill.
