In Review: Last week, PCMA and other aligned stakeholders participated in a meeting with Senator Max Wise (R) (sponsor of SB 188), Eric Clark (R) (Senate Leadership Staff), and lobbyists for the pharmacists and retail federation. During the meeting, we walked through concerns with the bill, line by line, and had a healthy back-and-forth with the proponents of the bill. At the end of the meeting, the opponents were asked to share any areas where there could be a middle ground. To that end, PCMA has sent a moderately updated redline version of the bill from the one that was sent about three weeks ago to Sen. Wise, Chairman Jared Carpenter (R), Eric Clark, and the lobbyists for the retail federation and independent pharmacists. With time on our side, we did not want to seem like we were dragging our feet in terms of trying to negotiate with the other side. Currently, there is no scheduled meeting of the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee for this week, however that could change at any time.
