Kentucky Weekly Update 3.4.24

In Review: Last week, PCMA met with Chairman of the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee, Jared Carpenter (R), Senate Appropriations and Revenue Chairman Chris McDaniel (R), and Senate Banking and Insurance Committee Vice Chairman Rick Girdler (R), and Senate Leadership Policy Advisor Eric Clark (R) on SB 188. It is clear that there is heartburn with the legislation amongst members of leadership and the committee chairman listed above. Chairman Carpenter has indicated that he is supportive of a stakeholder meeting with everyone in the same room ‘to figure something out’. House Leadership has also indicated that ‘something will pass’. PCMA counsel has been in communication with the bill sponsor, who has indicated that he plans to meet with opponents of the bill this week after meeting with the proponents last Friday. It is unclear if this will qualify as a ‘stakeholder meeting’ and what Senate Leadership has planned for the bill.
