Maine Weekly Update 1.16.24

Up Next: The Committee on Health Coverage, Insurance, and Financial Services will hold a work session on Tuesday, January 16, on two carry-over bills from the previous session, both of which PCMA opposed. The first is LD 796 (Representative Jane Pringle (D)), which deals with prior authorizations. We were successful in getting the gold carding language struck from the bill, and the sponsor is still seeking feedback from stakeholders. PCMA plans to submit a comment letter on the benefits of prior authorizations for plans and patients. The next bill is LD 1407, which would allow pharmacies to reject a PBM’s provider manual updates. PCMA will attend and participate in the work session to oppose both bills.
