Maine Weekly Update 2.18.25

In Review: The Health Coverage, Insurance, and Financial Services Committee held a work session on LD 178, which would ban step therapy for advanced metastatic cancer. PCMA submitted written testimony in opposition at the hearing. During the work session, the committee decided to narrow the definition of metastatic cancer based on our comments that it was too broad. The committee also struck “advanced” from the bill and included a provision that any drug used to bypass step therapy had to be on a plan’s formulary. The bill was voted ought to pass as amended.
