Maryland Weekly Update 3.12.24

In Review: The Insurance and Pharmaceuticals subcommittee of the House Health and Government Operations committee met last week to discuss various bills heard by the full committee the week prior, and to discuss amendments to the bills. A copay accumulator bill was amended to limit coupons when generics are available and to require that manufacturers notify patients of the full calendar year value of a drug coupon upon usage. PCMA has also learned that a bill redefining the term purchaser to include ERISA self-insured plans will be amended at the request of the Maryland Insurance Administration to no longer apply to sections of the PBM statute dealing with P&T committees and therapeutic interchange.
