Minnesota Weekly Update 2.20.26

In Review: The Minnesota legislative session began this week with a joint remembrance ceremony honoring House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark Hortman, who were assassinated last June. There was a hearing on Thursday in the House Commerce, Finance, and Policy Committee on HF 2500, which would prohibit the use of algorithms and artificial intelligence for a health insurance prior authorization. An amendment was adopted that would only prohibit their use for denials. The bill was approved as amended and laid over for possible inclusion in a future omnibus bill.
