Mississippi Weekly Update 4.15.24

In Review: Last Wednesday was the general bill deadline in Mississippi, and one of the last bills addressed in the Senate was HB 1265. Senate Insurance Chairman Walter Michel (R) offered a floor substitute to HB 1265, which completely gutted the underlying bill and inserted most of the language the Pharmacists had requested in several measures that failed earlier in the session. HB 1265 passed the Senate as amended and has been transmitted back to the House for concurrence.

Up Next: PCMA has launched a text message campaign, targeting over 200,000 voters in Mississippi, and is activating every coalition partner to kill HB 1265 in the House. Additionally, we are internally outlining our veto strategy in the event we do not have success killing the bill on the House floor.
