Montana Weekly Update 3.31.25

In Review: SB 422 and SB 317 (prior authorization) received hearings on Friday, March 24. SB 422 (metastatic cancer) had a hearing where the Montana Medical Association (MMA), PCMA, and a citizen each requested additional amendments, resulting in the bill being held in committee. SB 317 (psychiatric drugs) also remains held in committee, largely due to the MMA’s opposition to a House amendment. HB 783 (GLP-1s) was briefly revived after having been tabled in committee by the Committee Chairman but ultimately failed on a floor vote, ending consideration of the bill.

Up Next: HB 740 (omnibus) will have a hearing on Tuesday, April 1, where PCMA intends to oppose the bill in its entirety based on concerns over last-minute pharmacy-driven amendments and potential cost impacts. Similarly, SB 446, SB 447, and SB 449 (prior authorization) will have a hearing on Friday, April 4. PCMA will continue to oppose these bills.
