Nebraska Weekly Update 1.8.24

In Review: Senator Eliot Bostar (D) introduced his new PBM bill (LB 990), which includes expanding the current PBM requirements to self-funded plans, a prohibition on mail order (while allowing independents to do mail order), and some language on a specialty that is not what we agreed to – We agreed that PBMs could not impose any additional requirements on pharmacies that it would not also require of an affiliated or contracted specialty pharmacy. Instead, the bill reads that we can only require a single national accreditation and nothing more. We suppose none of this should be surprising, given our stakeholder meeting in October.

Up Next: LB 990, along with other PBM-related bills, will most likely be heard later in session given Chair Julie Slama’s (R) admonition at our October stakeholder meeting that controversial bills will have a hard time getting passed in the short session.
