In Review: The House Commerce Committee held a work session on two bills PCMA is tracking. The first was SB 354, which requires copay coupons to be applied to a patient’s deductible. AHIP filed an amendment in coordination with PCMA to limit copay coupons if a generic equivalent, biosimilar, or other covered alternative is available. The coupon must also be available for the entire plan year as well. The committee accepted the amendment. Next was SB 555, the 50% point-of-sale rebate bill. A strike-all amendment was filed to remove the rebate reporting requirements and the 50% point-of-sale rebate section. With the removal of the rebate reporting section from the bill, Chair John Hunt (R) shared that the DOI is interested in some rebate reporting data and will issue a bulletin to collect that information. The committee accepted the amendment. Due to these changes in the House, the bills will head to a conference committee at the end of May.
