Up Next: Last week, the Senate version of the step therapy and prior authorization bills were heard in the first Senate Committee and faced extreme opposition from Senator Martin Hickey (D), as well as opposition from PCMA, our members, health plans, and AHIP. Senator Hickey is no fan of PBMs, but he raised significant concerns about patient safety, and as a result, the sponsors agreed to negotiate with those opposed to the bill. PCMA and members met with Senator Daniel Ivey-Soto (D) and the individual pushing the legislation on Friday, and over the weekend, we provided alternative language limiting the scope of the bills. PCMA expects to see a response from the sponsors today and for the bills to move, in some version, later this week.
