New Mexico Weekly Update 3.4.24

In Review: Last week, a local news station reported that Governor Lujan Grisham (D) signed Senate Bill 135 and House Bill 33. SB 135 restricts how health plans and PBMs use prior authorization and step therapy for the fully insured market and state plans in New Mexico. The bill originally eliminated step therapy and prior authorization for cancer, autoimmune disorders, and behavioral health; but thanks to the hard work of PCMA members and allies, behavioral health was eliminated. HB 33 is a transparency bill we were able to support because it includes drug manufacturers, PSAOs, PBMs, and health plans.
