In Review: Last week, PCMA was in Raleigh to meet with Senator James Burgin (R), one of the Chairs for the Senate Healthcare Committees, who had previously mentioned a possible interest in PBMs by the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health (JLOC). According to Senator Burgin, the JLOC will hold four meetings covering a wide range of topics, from the state’s Medicaid program to prescription drug costs, which will start later this month. While the schedule has not been finalized, Senator Burgin indicated that PBMs and other interested parties on the payor side will present at the third or fourth meeting. Until then, PCMA will be working with past third-party allies (NC Chamber, Nucor Steel, North Carolina Manufacturers, etc.) on participation in that hearing.
