In Review: Last week, PCMA attended the Republican State Leadership Committee conference and had a private meeting with Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger (R) and Senate Commerce and Insurance Chairman David Craven (R). During the meeting, PCMA thanked the Senate for recognizing the lousy policy in HB 246, and coming as no surprise. Sen. Berger mentioned that it would be very helpful if an employer more publicly voiced opposition to the legislation to counter pressure from pharmacists. Finally, building off an earlier PCMA presentation, Sen. Berger expressed interest in PSAOs.
Up Next: PCMA and member counsel are continuing to stay in the ear of the NC Chamber, which is in the process of issuing a more public position on regulating employer-sponsored healthcare. Additionally, member counsel will meet with the new head of the NC Manufacturers Association on complementary efforts. Finally, PCMA will be sharing several pieces of collateral on PSAOs with Sen. Berger’s office and will follow up as needed.
