North Dakota Weekly Update 4.7.25

In Review: The Senate Industry and Business Committee held a hearing on HB 1584 (remove ERISA exemption) last Monday, and testifying in opposition to the bill were PCMA, the Greater North Dakota Chamber of Commerce, North Dakota Banker’s Association, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, and AHIP. The next day, there was Committee Work on HB 1584, and the bill received a “do pass as amended” recommendation by a vote of 4-0-1 and was referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee. The House Industry, Business, and Labor Committee had additional Committee Work on SB 2280 (prior authorization) and the Committee gave it a “do pass as amended” recommendation. There was Committee Work in Senate Appropriations on  HB 1216 (copay accumulator).

Up Next: HB 1216 (copay accumulator) is scheduled to have additional Committee Work on April 7. The hearing for HB 1584 (remove ERISA exemption) in Senate Appropriations is expected to take place this week but has not yet been scheduled.
