In Review: On July 19, House Healthcare Chairman Rob Nosse (D) led the third summer bi-monthly PBM workgroup discussion with the pharmacy industry, addressing their proposals for over two hours. The primary focus was on reimbursement methodologies and the financial impact of proposed changes. Emphasis was placed on the need for equitable reimbursement practices, particularly concerning dispensing fees and the current structure’s role in increasing costs for pharmacies and consumers. The pharmacies also stressed the importance of transparency and consistency in PBM contracts and pricing models, advocating for regulations that ensure fair compensation across all pharmacies. Additionally, discussions covered the challenges posed by high deductible plans and the rising costs of specialty drugs. The PBM industry will present on July 31.
