In Review: The Senate Health and Human Services Committee held a hearing on various PBM-related bills. PCMA submitted testimony on a ban on prior authorization and step therapy for prescriptions for any HIV prevention drug, reference pricing, a ban on prior authorization and step therapy for severe mental illness, an evergreen omnibus PBM bill, and a bill on reimbursements to affiliate pharmacies. All the bills were held for further study. The Senate Democratic leadership released a healthcare package this week. There are 25 bills included in the package, including a prescription drug affordability board. PCMA will review these bills and determine our strategy.
