South Dakota Weekly Update 1.27.25

In Review: A prior authorization and gold carding bill was introduced last week as SB 87. We are still trying to ascertain if this pertains to prescription drugs and have requested the members to review and provide feedback. In addition, HB 1102 was also introduced last week which pertains to the Department of Insurance collecting various health claims data (including pharmaceutical). The language does not go into what that data would be and gives broad authority to the Department.

Up Next: HB 1016 will have a hearing in the House Health and Human Services Committee on Tuesday. As agreed by the members, we will monitor this hearing given we have received conflicting information on what the bill actually does, as well as the position change from the South Dakota Retailers.
