South Dakota Weekly Update 2.24.25

In Review: There was a hearing on SB 158 (prior authorization and gold carding) in the Senate Health and Human Services and the bill was defeated by a vote of 4-3. Given the close vote, it is very possible the bill language could be added on to an existing bill (referred to as a “hog house” amendment”) and we are watching this very closely. House Bill 1137 (Treatment of Pain with Non-opioid Drugs) was heard in the House Health and Human Services. The bill sponsor requested the bill not move any further at the current time, given he felt the bill was not ready but wanted to have a conversation on the matter. Therefore, the committee agreed, and action was taken on the bill which defeats it for the session.
