Tennessee Weekly Update 3.17.25

In Review: Last week, PreferredRx, a ‘transparent’ PBM, presented before the House Insurance Committee. While no discussion of specific legislation came up during the conversation, representatives from the company derided the traditional PBM model, showing how their approach can lead to significant savings for customers.

Up Next: SB 881, a bill from the Tennessee Pharmacists Association, originally proposed to shorten the timeline for payments from PBMs to pharmacies and more, will be amended to align the existing prompt pay statute to PBMs. Additionally, we are expecting SB 420/HB 870 (AFP/maximizers) to be heard in the Senate Commerce Committee next week.
