In Review: Stateholder meetings on HB 527, spread pricing, transparency, and MAC, began this week, with the first discussion convened by sponsor Representative Katie Hall (R) and Representative Norm Thurston (R). The stakeholder meeting was limited in size to eight, with the Utah Pharmacist Association focused primarily on MAC pricing and appeals processes, with less attention on broader audit or spread provisions. LuGina Mendez Harper led the PBM industry, emphasizing our willingness to work toward practical, targeted solutions while underscoring operational constraints related to upstream pricing inputs and data access. We are evaluating draft language to address concerns in a focused manner, preserve appropriate guardrails, and determine the bill’s viability this session. At the sponsor’s request, amendments have been drafted for consideration.
