In Review: Both Washington State SB 5445 (POS), sponsored by Senator Ann Rivers (R), and its companion HB 1465, sponsored by Representative Marcus Riccelli (D), did not garner sufficient support to progress beyond their respective Healthcare Committees in the 2023-2024 biennium. The committee cutoff for bills to advance out of committee expired on January 31. Currently, SSB 5213, which is sponsored by Senator Patty Kuderer (D), is undergoing discussions in stakeholder meetings. However, progress has been less than productive. It has remained assigned to the Senate Rules Committee since the opening day of the 2024 legislative session.
