Over the last several years, it has become increasingly apparent that there is a growing data discrepancy between reports that rely on data from the independent pharmacy advocate and the lobbyist organization – National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) and the pharmacy counts reported by the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP), a not-for-profit, ANSI-accredited organization with a mission to develop and promote industry standards to improve patient safety and health outcomes and decrease costs. NCPDP is regarded as the gold standard for pharmacy data.
