Job Title: Senior Director, Strategy and Industry Relations
Reports to: Chief Strategy and Business Operations Officer

Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) – the national association representing America’s pharmacy benefit managers, seeks a Senior Director of Strategy and Industry Relations. PCMA continues to lead the effort in promoting PBMs and the proven tools they utilize, which are recognized by consumers, employers, policymakers, and others as key drivers in lowering prescription drug costs and increasing access. The association is in a new leadership era and seeks a strategic executive to manage planning efforts and liaison with the industry to initiate valuable programs and initiatives.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist the Chief Strategy and Business Operations Officer in the development, day-to-day management, and refinement of the Association’s strategic plan on behalf of PCMA’s membership and staff. Success will rely heavily on establishing close working relationships with PCMA executive staff. He/she will lead activities to align PCMA departments and activities with the plan, reporting effectiveness and results to senior leadership.
Build relationships with key industry thought leaders, influencers and decision makers.
Develop and maintain a keen sense of real time and long term drug supply chain industry dynamics, challenges, and opportunities. Use industry knowledge to refine and create Association programs and initiatives with the intent purpose of fostering the most advantageous business climate for our PBM members and industry partners.
Spearhead the continuation and growth of the sPCMA division of PCMA which provides thought leadership for the specialty pharmacy industry.
Work with industry partners to identify similar program opportunities as sPCMA and launch feasible initiatives aligned with the association’s strategic plan.
Develop and utilize content for thought leadership on longer term, strategic PBM industry challenges and opportunities.
The Senior Director of Strategy and Industry Relations will report to the Chief Strategy and Business Operations Officer. There are no reporting positions to the Senior Director.
Qualifications and Skills:
The ideal candidate will have experience in the U.S. drug supply chain, health care, and/or health insurance; trade association experience with multiple or complex constituencies; a strong background in organizational and strategic planning; demonstrated business writing skills; excellent communications and interpersonal skills; proven success in content and thought leadership development. Also, fundraising experience; an understanding of advocacy; and a willingness to become well-versed in the industry and to interact with industry executives.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Five to ten years of experience is desired
- Strategic vision capabilities with a talent for implementation is essential
- Combination of strong written and verbal communication skills are required
- Ability to move quickly and adapt strategies is important
- Tenacious and professional follow-up talents are needed
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are necessary
- Ability to prioritize tasks and projects is critical due to multi-faceted operation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required
