Job Summary:

Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) – the national association representing America’s pharmacy benefit managers, seeks a Senior Director of Strategy and Industry Relations.  PCMA continues to lead the effort in promoting PBMs and the proven tools they utilize, which are recognized by consumers, employers, policymakers, and others as key drivers in lowering prescription drug costs and increasing access.  The association is in a new leadership era and seeks a strategic executive to manage planning efforts and liaison with the industry to initiate valuable programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Assist the Chief Strategy and Business Operations Officer in the development, day-to-day management, and refinement of the Association’s strategic plan on behalf of PCMA’s membership and staff.   Success will rely heavily on establishing close working relationships with PCMA executive staff.  He/she will lead activities to align PCMA departments and activities with the plan, reporting effectiveness and results to senior leadership.

Build relationships with key industry thought leaders, influencers and decision makers.

Develop and maintain a keen sense of real time and long term drug supply chain industry dynamics, challenges, and opportunities.  Use industry knowledge to refine and create Association programs and initiatives with the intent purpose of fostering the most advantageous business climate for our PBM members and industry partners.

Spearhead the continuation and growth of the sPCMA division of PCMA which provides thought leadership for the specialty pharmacy industry.

Work with industry partners to identify similar program opportunities as sPCMA and launch feasible initiatives aligned with the association’s strategic plan.

Develop and utilize content for thought leadership on longer term, strategic PBM industry challenges and opportunities.

The Senior Director of Strategy and Industry Relations will report to the Chief Strategy and Business Operations Officer.  There are no reporting positions to the Senior Director.


Qualifications and Skills:

The ideal candidate will have experience in the U.S. drug supply chain, health care, and/or health insurance; trade association experience with multiple or complex constituencies; a strong background in organizational and strategic planning; demonstrated business writing skills; excellent communications and interpersonal skills; proven success in content and thought leadership development.  Also, fundraising experience; an understanding of advocacy; and a willingness to become well-versed in the industry and to interact with industry executives.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five to ten years of experience is desired
  • Strategic vision capabilities with a talent for implementation is essential
  • Combination of strong written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Ability to move quickly and adapt strategies is important
  • Tenacious and professional follow-up talents are needed
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are necessary
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and projects is critical due to multi-faceted operation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required

Job Summary:

Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) – the national association representing America’s pharmacy benefit managers, seeks a highly motivated and energetic individual for the position of Conference Manager. The candidate will work closely with the existing three members of the Industry Relations and Conferences team and other PCMA staff to manage and/or support several key conference functions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

  • Management of registration and housing for PCMA’s two annual conferences
  • Building and maintaining registration website through the event management platform (Cvent)
  • Creating and maintaining registration reports
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for all general inquiries regarding conferences
  • Coordinating conference app for PCMA’s two annual conferences
  • Assist ACPE Administrator for PCMA’s continuing pharmacist education program with uploading of conference data
  • Management of a LinkedIn Group – PCMA-Connect – which is a networking tool for Members and Affiliates
  • Working with designated external vendors and hotel staff as needed
  • Assist in management of meeting rooms for conference sponsors as requested
  • Providing other support to successfully execute PCMA conferences and other association events

PCMA’s Industry Relations Department maintains relationships with well over 100 pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing companies, all PCMA PBM member companies, as well as numerous other industry affiliates. These relationships and the revenue that the conferences program produces are critical to the department’s mission to deliver the highest quality member services, networking, education, and communications to the PBM, specialty pharmacy, and pharmaceutical manufacturing communities.

Desired Skills and Expertise Include:

  • A bachelor’s degree and relevant conference work experience (2 + years)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects or priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • The ability to be flexible and highly-motivated; a self-starter who is willing to learn and whose approach to work motivates and energizes others
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
