PBMs negotiate with drug manufacturers to lower costs for diabetes drugs and recommend to plan sponsors and insurers programs to lower or eliminate patient cost sharing for them. PBMs also directly engage patients with diabetes through programs that promote adherence and healthy lifestyles.
